Alliste
55 kilometres from Lecce, amongst the ancient olive trees, stone walls, and trulli, the town of Alliste occupies a 7 kilometre stretch of coastline along the Ionian Sea, including Capilungo and Posto Rosso. This area, far away from the massive touriam, has always been a tranquil summer vacation spot, and has always attracted those who are in search of a truly relaxing vacation. Of course the area is full of shops, cafes, and restaurants, ready to show you all of the flavours of Salento. The rocky coastline of the crystal clear sea is beautiful and with the proper shoes, you will be ready to discover the beauty of where the sea meets the rocks, and all of the marine life among it, including sea urchins ready to be gathered and eaten there right on the spot, as enjoyed by the locals. Optimal for a family vacation, unforgettable for couples, economical for large groups, with all of the local summer festivities. Young people can find themselves, in just a few minutes by scooter, parties on the beach, bars, clubs, and concerts, night after night, until the sun comes up. All in all, whichever your pleasure, you will be sure to pass an unforgettable vacation in Alliste. Port CesāreoPort Cesāreo, nearby the marina of Saint Isidoro, which, up until recently, was just a small fishing village, and today is an interesting tourist spot with optimal hotels and vacation homes. The name of this town comes from the 500 year old Cesārea tower, which in past times, the lives of the fishermen revolved around. Historically under the Greek influence, as are shown in the micenee ceramics, this was a Mesopotamian sea side village, mostly known for its production of purple pigment derived from molluscs. Along the coast, in the depths of the sea, there are ancient roman ruins such as pottery and architectural columns, most probably which were lost in shipwrecks. Those recovered can still be seen in the prehistoric village of the Penisola della Strea.
